National Service Scheme

About NSS
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a government-sponsored public service program governed by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of India. The NSS at Indo-American College aims to nurture the social consciousness of the youth while focusing on their personality development through community service.
The core objective is to involve students in various social service programs and national development initiatives, enabling them to make meaningful contributions to society. Guided by the motto “Not Me, But You,” NSS instills a sense of social responsibility in students, encouraging them to serve society selflessly, with a focus on aiding the underprivileged and promoting equality.
Regular Activities
NSS volunteers at Indo-American College engage in activities that directly impact villages, slums, and voluntary agencies. Each volunteer is required to complete 120 hours of service during an academic year, staying actively connected with the community.
The NSS units organize a range of awareness programs on topics such as Blood Donation, Eye Donation, Cleanliness Drives, Family Planning, the Right to Vote, Environmental Conservation (Tree Plantation), Child Education, Traffic Safety, and Public Health Issues like Filarial Infections.
In addition, our NSS units have successfully conducted Free Eye Checkup Camps, Filaria Awareness Programs, and Tree Plantation Campaigns, further contributing to the betterment of local communities.
With a strong team of 200 volunteers, these NSS units work tirelessly to uphold the ideals of community service and social welfare, reflecting the true spirit of the NSS initiative.
