Welcome to the Grievance Redressal Committee of Indo-American College. We are committed to ensuring a fair and transparent mechanism for addressing grievances of students, faculty, and staff.
Objective
The primary objective of the Grievance Redressal Committee is to provide a platform for members of the college community to express their grievances freely and seek resolution in a timely manner. The committee aims to uphold the principles of justice, equality, and integrity while addressing grievances.

How to Lodge a Grievance:
Students, faculty, and staff can lodge grievances with the Grievance Redressal Committee through the following channels:
- Online Grievance Portal: Access the college website and submit your grievance through the online grievance form.
- Grievance Boxes: Physical grievance boxes are placed at designated locations for submitting written grievances.
- Email: Send an email detailing your grievance to iacprincipal@gmail.com
- In-Person: Visit the Grievance Redressal Committee office during the designated hours to discuss your grievance in person.
Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)

IAC is committed to maintaining a professional working and learning environment for its women employees, students and guests. The ICC @ IAC is constituted to help maintain a harmonious atmosphere at the college, to enable women to pursue their work with dignity and reassurance and to investigate and recommend actions on all acts of harassment against any woman faculty, staff or student. The Committee has been working to raise awareness on gender equality issues.
In accordance with the guidelines set forth by the UGC and Supreme Court, Indo-American College, Cheyyar has established an dedicated to gender sensitization and addressing complaints related to sexual harassment.
Objective: The ICC at Indo-American College, Cheyyar is committed to:
- Preventing and prohibiting incidents of sexual harassment against female students and employees within the college.
- Sensitizing all members of the college community about their fundamental rights to a safe and healthy environment.
Scope: The ICC has exclusive jurisdiction to receive and address complaints from female students, teaching staff, and non-teaching staff of the college.
Procedure: The ICC follows a structured procedure for addressing complaints:
- The aggrieved person must lodge the complaint with the college authority.
- The college authority forwards the complaint to the ICC for necessary action.
- The ICC conducts a meeting to review the complaint and decides on further steps, including conducting an inquiry.
- Following the inquiry, the ICC recommends appropriate actions, which may include apology, disciplinary measures, or referral to legal authorities.
Sexual Harassment: Sexual harassment encompasses unwelcome sexually determined behavior, including physical contact, demands for sexual favors, sexually colored remarks, and other verbal or non-verbal conduct of a sexual nature. The ICC is committed to creating a safe and fearless environment for reporting and addressing instances of sexual harassment.
Redressal Methods: The ICC employs various methods for addressing complaints, including:
- Recording complaints in a standardized format.
- Granting interim relief to complainants.
- Ensuring confidentiality and principles of natural justice.
- Conducting formal inquiries in a fair and gender-sensitive manner.
- Submitting comprehensive inquiry reports.
Principles: The ICC adheres to the following directive principles:
- Confidentiality
- Non-coercion and Interim Relief
- Fair Enquiry
- Orientation towards Education and Redressal
- Representative Committees
Activities: The ICC engages in activities aimed at creating awareness and preventing sexual harassment, including:
- Displaying information about its programs on notice boards.
- Organizing seminars, special talks, and competitions.

Anti-Ragging Committee

Ragging is “Any disorderly conduct whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, or handling with rudeness any other student, in rowdy or undisciplined activities which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior student or asking the students to do any act or perform something which such student will not do in the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of a fresher or a junior student.” Ragging is a crime. No one can feign ignorance of the law. In pursuance of the directions/ decisions of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, those who indulge in ragging can be punished with:
- Jail for period ranging from 6 Months to 10 Years
- Fine up to Rs.50,000
- Embossing of Certificates that “the student had indulged in ragging” which will adversely affect Career Prospects affects the charged against going abroad
As per the direction of UGC, an Anti-Ragging Cell has been established and Committees have been constituted to monitor the activities of students within the campus, while travelling in college buses and in the hostels. The Committees meet periodically to discuss incidents and activities of students to prevent unnecessary interactions among students. Further, a seminar has been organised for the First Year Students every year to make them aware of what ragging is, to teach them how to be emotionally quotient and how to react, respond and to proceed when such situations occur. The Campus of Indo-American College is Ragging-free. Notice Boards bearing the Members of the Anti-ragging Committee with their Phone numbers have been displayed and Circulars have sent to classes periodically informing the students about the menace of Ragging and the punishments meted out to students involve in ragging. It is instructed that if students witness any ragging inside the campus, in college buses or hostels, the same may be reported to the following: The names of the informants will be kept confidentially. Staff have been deployed at important locations, during the pre-college hours, interval and lunch periods to monitor students. CCTV/Surveillance Cameras have also been installed at all the vulnerable places to monitor their activities.

Innovation and Entrepreneurial Development Cell (IEDC-IAC)

The Innovation and Entrepreneurial Development Cell (IEDC) at IAC is a platform for students who are interested in innovation and entrepreneurship. The cell is dedicated to promoting a culture of innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship among students and provides them with the necessary resources to turn their ideas into successful ventures.
The IEDC conducts a range of activities to support innovation and entrepreneurship. It organizes workshops, training sessions, and seminars to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to develop innovative solutions and launch successful startups. The cell also provides mentorship and guidance to help students navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship.
The IEDC encourages students to think beyond the traditional boundaries of their fields of study and explore new and innovative ideas. Through its various programs and initiatives, the cell fosters creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among students.
In addition to its on-campus activities, the IEDC is also involved in several community outreach programs. The cell works with local businesses and organizations to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the wider community.
One of the major initiatives of the IEDC is to provide incubation support for startups. The cell provides access to funding, mentorship, and infrastructure to help early-stage startups grow and scale their businesses. The incubation program is open to students, alumni, and members of the wider community.
The IEDC also serves as a hub for networking and collaboration. The cell organizes regular events and competitions, such as hackathons and startup contests, where students can showcase their ideas and meet like-minded individuals. Through these events, students have the opportunity to network with successful entrepreneurs, investors, and industry experts.
