Anti-Ragging Committee

Ragging is defined as any disorderly conduct, whether through spoken or written words or actions, that teases, handles with rudeness, or engages in rowdy or undisciplined activities that cause annoyance, hardship, or psychological harm. Such conduct is aimed at generating fear, shame, or embarrassment in a fresher or junior student, adversely affecting their physical or psychological well-being.
Ragging is a serious crime, and ignorance of the law cannot be claimed as an excuse. In line with the directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, those found indulging in ragging face severe punishments, including:
- Jail sentences ranging from 6 months to 10 years.
- Fines of up to Rs. 50,000.
- Embossing of certificates stating that the student engaged in ragging, negatively impacting career prospects and opportunities for studying abroad.
