The Indo-American College Library was established in 1998 and has since been a central resource for academic and research activities. The library is committed to providing comprehensive services by acquiring, organizing, and giving access to information resources across various disciplines, including science, social science, commerce, and management. With modern technologies and infrastructure in place, the library supports learning, teaching, and research endeavors effectively.

Library Resources

  • The library boasts a collection of over 9,000 books spanning various academic fields.
  • Subscriptions to 25 journals, 15 magazines, and 10 dailies keep students and faculty updated with the latest developments.
  • Access to 35,000 e-books and other e-resources is facilitated through LAN, offering extensive digital resources.
  • The library service is automated with *AutoLib Library Management Software*, allowing seamless management of resources.
  • The resources can be easily accessed through the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC).
  • Ten computer systems with broadband internet connectivity are available for students and staff to access online resources.

Rules and Regulations

  • Library Access: The library is open to all members of the college.
  • Timings: The library operates from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM on all working days.
  • Environment: The library is a place for study and research. Members are expected to maintain an atmosphere of dignity, peace, and silence.
  • ID Card Requirement: Access to the library requires an ID card, which must be scanned before entering.
  • Closed Access System: The library follows a closed access system. Mobile phone use is strictly prohibited inside the library.
  • Book Handling: Personal textbooks, printed materials, and issued books are not allowed inside the library. Books should be handled with care; any damage, underlining, writing, or scribbling will result in fines.
  • Borrowing Rules
    • Faculty: May borrow up to 5 books for a period of 15 days, with renewals allowed at the end of the borrowing period.
    • Students: May borrow 2 books for 15 days, with the option for 1 renewal.
  • Responsibility: Readers are responsible for any damage or mutilation noticed at the time of returning the book. Sub-lending of books is not allowed.
  • Book Placement: Books must be returned to their designated location after use.
  • Prohibited Items: Food and beverages are not allowed inside the library.
  • Clearance Requirement: Transfer certificates, conduct certificates, or hall tickets will only be issued after all borrowed books are returned.

Digital Resources

The library is equipped with digital resources that provide access to extensive online materials:

  • N-List INFLIBNET Access: The library is integrated with the N-List INFLIBNET service, offering access to a wide range of academic resources, including JSTOR and EBSCOhost. Both staff and students can have individual logins to explore these resources.
  • National Digital Library of India (NDLI): The library is connected with NDLI, and students can sign up as members through the NDLI Club. Contact the librarian for the institutional pass key to access the vast collection of resources available.
